WHO WE ARE

We are part of the greater Charleston, South Carolina area...and our homes are East of the Cooper River...across the river from Charleston.

The Cooper River (locally pronounced cup-a) is currently spanned by two bridges (the 50 year old "new bridge" The Pearlman ; and the 75 year "old bridge" The Grace ). Crossing over both bridges is the construction of brand new bridge which is scheduled to open in summer 2005.

Our community includes the many lovely subdivisions of Mt. Pleasant, Old Mt. Pleasant, The Isle of Palms, and Sullivan's Island, and Daniel Island.

Cooper River Bridge

The East Cooper Newcomers Club was started over twenty five years ago to provide a friendly environment for the newcomers to the lowcountry to expand their horizons through social, educational, and philanthropic activities.

We remember what it was like to be new to the area, and we take pride in welcoming you as you transition into your new home.

We hold monthly luncheon meetings, a monthly coffee, and sponsor many small group activities including book clubs, bridge groups, cocktail groups, line-dancing, and afternoon groups where you can play mah jongg, canasta, or board games. We go to movies, bowl, play golf, and take trips to local historical venues, and generally have a good time!
